The Hull Roundabout
You might have heard of ‘Dutch Roundabouts’ - well here’s our take for Hull.
A lot of roundabouts in Hull already have zebra crossings close to their entrances / exits.
By adding parallel bike crossings alongside the zebras, bikes can be separated from motor vehicles on the roundabout.
There is space around the roundabouts to accommodate bikes.
The design is cost effective as most roundabouts can be upgraded with only paint, drop kerbs and signage.
Parallel zebra crossings would need adding to the entrances / exits of roundabouts that don’t already have them.
The upgrade can be achieved in stages - at first the paths around the roundabouts can be shared paths. Bike and foot path segregation can follow, determined by user number data.
